Available Kittens
and Retired Adult Cats
The Royal Kitty's kittens and cats pictured on this page are available for sale to loving pet homes with a spay/neuter agreement. They have had a preliminary health exam by our veterinarian and found to be healthy and sound. If you are interested in acquiring one of these kittens, please fill out the contact form and we will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours.
Once a deposit has been received, the kitten is marked as reserved and is no longer available. If you are interested in a kitten that is already reserved, you can request to be on a waiting list for that kitten in case the current agreement falls through. When a kitten goes to its new home, it is marked as sold.
Different types of kittens: Kittens sold as pets are generally known as "doll faced" and the more extreme looks are breeder and show quality. There are times when breeder and show quality kittens are sold to pet homes, not requiring them to be bred or shown. The term "teacup" refers to a smaller than normal sized kitten and is considered a less than honest approach to selling kittens by breeders charging outrageous prices for what are actually normal sized kittens. There is no standardized size for kittens in any breed and Persians are no exception. The normal size for adult Himalayans is between 6 and 8 pounds. Differing sizes depend on many factors such as bloodline, general health, and nutrition.
Interesting Facts About Himalayans:
- Himalayan kittens are born all white. As they mature over the first few days of life, their color begins to change.
- The colored areas on Himalayans are called "points" and are on the face, ears, legs, and tail.
- The coat of Himalayans has a temperature sensitive modifier gene. The cooler the temperature, the darker the color. At around 100.4 - 102.5 degrees, which is a cat's normal body temperature, the modifier sends out a message to block the color. Anything lower than that and the mutation is blocked. Because a cat's body temperature is lower on the extremities (ears, legs, and tail) so those are the only areas where color is expressed.
- Due to the sensitivity to temperature changes, the coat on the body of a Himalayan may turn dark if shaved.
